Bio

Michael (Mike) Astrachan is a songwriter based in Nashville, Tennessee. A native of Kennett, MO, music has been his passion for as long as he can remember. From an early age, Mike was exposed to all genres of music by his family, friends and music educators. He has performed in bands and as a solo performer. 

After graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism in 1988, Mike moved to Kansas City, MO, where he established himself as a successful advertising professional and small business owner. In 2012, Mike decided to pursue his lifelong passion for music as a songwriter and in 2018 he moved to Nashville to make a deeper commitment to his writing and music. 

Through his co-writing with up-and-coming artists, Mike has had songs released by Paige King Johnson, Olivia Frances, and Holly Auna, among others. Some of his accomplishments include “Water Down The Whiskey” by Paige King Johnson reaching #29 on the Music Row Country Breakout Chart, “It Just Takes One” by Olivia Frances being featured by the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation during Random Acts Of Kindness Week, and “Another Silent Night” by Holly Auna being featured in American Songwriter. 

Songs from his catalog have been nominated for multiple awards, including The Josie Music Awards, The Independent Music Awards and The Maine Songwriters’ Association Songwriting Competition. Additionally, his songs have been performed at venues, schools, festivals, events and on livestreams and podcasts, as well as local and regional radio stations across the country. 

In addition to working with artists, Mike aspires to release some of his own material in the future.

Mike is a voting member of the Recording Academy Class of 2021. Through his involvement he wishes to bring positive change to the music industry by celebrating, representing and giving back to music and its community of creators and professionals.
